04/06/2004: "Deep, deep, Deepak!"

Some bits from today's Strib article on Deepak's visit:

"He's right up there with the Dalai Lama, Buddha and Jesus -- the people on Earth who spread love, compassion and good health among other souls on Earth," Rackner said.

Oooookay... now on to somebody else:
"On the positive side I think the messages that Chopra conveys of wholeness, leading a balanced life and health and well-being are excellent -- who can argue with that?" she said.

But Kreitzer added that medical researchers and academics are more skeptical, faulting the lack of rigorous research on the safety and effectiveness of herbal remedies sold on Chopra's Web site. "He's seen as being so commercialized. I don't know if you've been on his Web site but you can even get spiritual messages on your wireless phone," she said.

This is just wrong, because the Old Testament says wireless spiritual messages are only allowed with 128-bit encryption. To wrap it up:
In his 2003 book, "The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire: Harnessing the Infinite Power of Coincidence" (Harmony Books, $25), Chopra writes about the power of coincidence -- what he calls SynchroDestiny. There are no coincidences, Chopra says. There is an order to everything. You just need to tap into it and it will change your life.

I think Audi calls its new CVT "SynchroDestiny." Might have a trademark issue there -- not sure. Anyway, this coincidence stuff is awesome. We might as well have a Matrix religion, too. They explained deja vu pretty well if you ask me. But maybe Deepak isn't a religion -- maybe he's just about lifestyle. Hard to say. It seems so synthetic.

P.S. Don't even mention midichlorians. Because we all know THEY control coincidences.
